Ongoing Community Involvement
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento

Sutter will undertake a series of measures to protect historic resources in the area,
including the "Old Tavern" pictured here.
Sutter Medical Center has been engaged in a dialogue with neighborhood and community groups and interested individuals about our plans for new facilities for more than five years.

Our community partnerships have made our project a great fit for Sacramento, and are helping us deliver the goals the City of Sacramento has set for the "Sutter District." We share the City's vision of being a part of a neighborhood where people can work, be entertained, dine and reside in a historic and unique Sacramento neighborhood. And we are committed to this neighborhood, recognizing its unique character.

Sutter worked with community groups and neighbors in a "charette" planning process to develop plans for the "community block" in addition to numerous informal meetings with neighborhood groups, "open house" events and public meetings with the Sacramento Planning Commission and the City's Design Review and Historic Preservation Board.

Neighborhood groups participating in this process include the Boulevard Park Neighborhood Association, Marshall School Neighborhood Association, McKinley Elvas Neighborhood Alliance, New Era Park Neighborhood Association, Winn Park Neighborhood Association, Neighborhood Area Group (NAG), Sacramento Old City Association (SOCA), Biba Restaurant, Paragary's, East Sacramento Chamber, Midtown Business Association, Trinity House and Pioneer Church, Trinity Cathedral, Capitol Physical Therapy, Regional Transit, City of Sacramento and Councilmember Steve Cohn's office.

As construction activities continue, Sutter is keeping our neighbors and interested community members informed through emails, bimonthly newsletters and a quarterly update:
